Two-day workshop with Sarah Sedwick
May 28 & 29, 2016
9:30 am - 4:30 pm
$175 plus $40 model fee
Would you like to create more realistic figurative paintings, while loosening up your brushwork at the same time? Are you confused by color mixing, and unsure of how to achieve beautiful flesh tones? I can help you with that!
This fun and intense two-day workshop, held in Whiteaker Printmakers’ upstairs studio, will focus on the essentials of figure painting, using a limited palette of three colors plus white. This traditional palette, famously used by Swedish artist Anders Zorn, is made up of yellow ochre, cadmium red, ivory black, and titanium white.
We’ll work from live models. All stages of mixing and painting will be demonstrated, and students will have plenty of painting time! Workshop includes an evening demo on Friday May 27, from 6-8 pm.
Instruction will be in oils, but acrylics are welcome. Bring your usual painting kit, making sure to include the items on the materials list for this workshop.
Note that this workshop takes place upstairs and there is no elevator.
