$100 plus $30 materials
(WhitPrint members: $90 plus $30 materials)
About This Workshop
We will learn how to use a gel plate to create monotypes and image transfers on paper with acrylic paint, which we will then use to create finished collages on canvas board. We will explore mark-making with found objects and hand-cut stencils, and print on several varieties of paper. We’ll use the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates, which are flexible and easy to use. They look and feel like a traditional gelatin monoprinting plate, but can be stored at room temperature.
All supplies and materials will be provided, including basic papers, acrylic paint, stamp pads, found objects for mark-making, brushes for mixing paint, and magazines for image transfer. Students are encouraged to bring their own supplies to enhance their finished collage projects including items like specialty papers (rice paper, old books etc). Any found objects you bring for mark-making should not include sharp edges, which can make a permanent mark on the gel pad.
