About the Workshop

WhitPrint is delighted to offer a new workshop: Intro to Color Plate Lithography.  The workshop teaches a more modern form of the lithographic process using photosensitive plates which can be used to work faster when making prints.  This workshop is designed for students with some basic printmaking experience, but lithography experience is not required.

We will learn the process of photo plate lithography by making imagery on transparencies, followed by plate exposure and development.  We will then focus on the printing process, layering colors, and ink modifications, and learn about hole-punch registration.

Students will be introduced to methods for trial proofing, editioning, and photographic lithography.  The workshop will focus more on hand-drawn imagery, but photographic/digital images are accessible as well.  With these techniques, your printmaking can effectively achieve a wide array of images and expressive effects using handmade and/or digital imagery!
